Over the next decade, two million manufacturing jobs are expected to go unfilled due to the skills gap. Less and less, students are choosing manufacturing as their career path.

Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce worked with SlicedTomato Productions to produce a short video highlighting the manufacturing skills gap and how Greer, SC is working to close that gap. The video inspires students, showing manufacturing jobs as lucrative careers, often requiring less time spent in school. They are interesting, well paid, and come with great benefits. There are companies right here in Greer, such as BMW and Michelin, wanting (needing!) these type of employees.

Manufacturing workers made an average of $77,506 in 2013, and STEM occupations are expected to grow 17% in the next two years, proving that this industry is thriving and an excellent option.

The video footage was shot in three schools located in Greer that are providing the resources needed for students to succeed in the manufacturing industry. The video was produced for Greer, SC but a national version was also created to help promote manufacturing jobs around the United States.

SlicedTomato is proud to be a part of the GreerMade family that promotes and encourages students in our community. Special thanks to Chandler Creek Elementary School, Greer High School, and J. Harley Bonds Career Center School (all right here in Greer!)
